NUTCRACKER FOR ALL

ACT 1: DECEMBER 12 | 7:00pm

ACT 2: DECEMBER 13 | 12:00pm

Nutcracker on the Indian River has become a local holiday tradition, and with a near sold-out run last season in its inaugural run at Riverside Theatre, tickets will move fast.

The production retains all the whimsy and magic of the original ballet but moves the action to the year Vero was founded (1919). Taking the ballet’s heroine, Marie, on a holiday journey from New York to Florida, Fifth Avenue Mansions, Grand Central Station, and rail cars become settings.

Instead of a second act featuring candy characters, Marie dreams of the shores of the Indian River Lagoon and is entertained by all manner of local flora and fauna. Our production has become an instant classic that will take all the magic of the stage and uses it to both entertain and inspire.

As part of our Golden Jubilee celebration, Ballet Vero Beach is thrilled to present a rousing tribute to the birthday boy himself. It has been said that a ballet master has the most thankless job in ballet. We prefer to say our company would be nowhere without Camilo. To honor his keen eye, this program will feature the return of George Balanchine’s Glinka Pas De Trois, the company premiere of the pas de deux from Christopher Wheeldon’s Carousel: A Dance, and a world premiere, No. 1, by Artistic Director/CEO Adam Schnell. No. 1 will use Max Bruch’s soaring first violin concerto to pay homage to Rodriguez in all his many forms.
